A. India Fact Quiz (IFQ) is a televised and digitally gamified nation-wide annual quiz focusing on facts about India, its people and major social challenges faced by this generation.

The objective behind conducting IFQ is to raise awareness, impart knowledge and dispel myths around critical and foundational challenges concerning India.

A. IFQ is an initiative of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Aksha, powered by DataBaaz, a data journalism initiative under the umbrella of Live Data Visualisation (LDV) Private Limited. LDV is a company based in Mumbai that provides data sets, research material and content for academic and journalism purposes.

A. IFQ will utilize the popular format of quizzing and explanatory graphics to challenge mindsets, myths and urban legends about India pertaining to Gender Equality, Health, Quality Education, Population, Socio-Economic Indicators, Disease Control, Climate Change and Sustainable Living. Using the broad theme of BMGF’s Aksha Initiative and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), LDV has designed this quiz championship aimed at India’s young demographic.

The Quiz Show consists of Level1, Level 2, Regional Finals and the National Finale. Each participant shall qualify the preliminary round to proceed to the next round.

A. Aksha, a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Initiative, convenes knowledge and expertise to address India’s challenges in healthcare and social development.

A. DataBaaz is India’s first data and evidence visual platform that simplifies complex datasets, numbers and statistics and converts them into crisp visual stories. Targeted at today’s time-strapped Indian youth, who are looking for authentic and verified news, DataBaaz uploads fresh video clips daily, in Hindi and English, on relevant issues like health, education, environment and climate change, gender, youth and governance. The platform extracts its information from open-source datasets published by the government and international organizations as well as its own research. The data in DataBaaz is powered extensively by IndiaSpend, the country’s first and only public interest data journalism initiative, founded by veteran journalist Govindraj Ethiraj.

A. Live Data Visualisation Pvt. Ltd (LDV) is a for-profit entity headquartered in Mumbai, India. LDV's primary activity is to provide access to credible and quality data, conduct research and surveys, media and information literacy programs, fact checking and disinformation, misinformation and verification workshops for journalistic and academic purposes. LDV supports data journalism in newsrooms across the country by conceptualizing and conducting intensive data journalism and fact checking workshops for middle to senior level journalists.

LDV hosts workshops in schools and colleges to support the discipline of fact checking and detection of disinformation, misinformation and the importance of verification. Till date over 17 schools and approx. 2500 students have participated in the information literacy and fake news detection workshops. LDV conducts similar workshops for journalists and students in journalism colleges.

LDV supports citizen and science journalism by developing and deploying low-cost air quality devices across the country with a focus on the Indo-Gangetic belt. Data from the low cost AQI devices are classified as 'commons' and accessible to media organisations, academia, policy makers and civic engagement groups and individuals, with the primary objective to make air quality a national health issue.

LDV's content covers data sets, long form and multimedia formats. LDV's team comprises journalists, communications experts, behavioural scientists and specialist writers and content producers. LDV's content is used extensively by IndiaSpend, the country only data journalism initiative, Boom Live, an IFCN certified fake news busting journalism outlet, FactChecker, the first fact checking initiative to be recognised by IFCN in South Asia, Microsoft India, Google News Initiative, Youtube News Innovation Funding. LDV recently launched DataBaaz, a digital fact- based video service targeting the youth demographic.

A. IFQ 2020 is open for participation if the person:

a) Is a citizen of India and residing in India for the Quiz Period;

b) Is of sound mind and health;

c) Is not convicted in any criminal lawsuit;

d) Is not barred due to a disability arising out of any arrangement or contractual obligation which prevents such person from participating in the Quiz or performing in any event organized by the Quiz Management;

e) Agrees to abide by the Rules and Regulations, including, but not limited to the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.

A. Employees of the Company, Quiz Management, process advisors and process evaluators, agents, process partners and any other person associated with the Quiz or the Company who has been appointed from time to time, and members of their immediate family; persons other than Indian nationals, or Indian nationals living outside India, or those who do not qualify under the definition of resident of India as per the Income Tax Act, 1961 or those users previously suspended or removed from the website by LDV are ineligible to enter the Quiz.

Provided that any user below the age of 18 years as on [__] can participate in Level 1 only after obtaining consents or approvals from parents/ legal guardian for the use of the website and the parents/ legal guardian confirm that the participant’s registration or use of the website is in compliance with any and all applicable laws and regulations. A. There are four Levels in IFQ:-

  • Register yourself by filling in all the details
  • Take the Digital Quiz.
  • In case, you have been shortlisted for the Regional Finals, you will receive an email confirmation notifying you of the same. An IFQ Quiz Manager will get in touch with you and brief you more about the Regional Finals.
  • If you clear the Regional Finals, you will be eligible to participate in the National Final, which will be held in New Delhi.

A. Yes. IFQ will host various Community quizzes and such events in colleges and institutions up to the launch of the Digital Quiz as well as post-launch of the same. IFQ aims to network and engage with students so as to encourage participation on a wider scale.

  • Participants can be a part of the Community quiz during registration itself.
  • A referral code for Community quiz specific to the Community will be provided to the participants which shall be entered during registration.
  • The participant can also enter the referral code after registration by clicking ‘My Accounts’ on the page.
  • The Community participants fulfilling the age criteria will be eligible for the regional and the national finale subject to their position on the leaderboard

A. Phase 1: (Level 1 & 2 i.e. Digital Quiz)

  • All participants will undergo the digital entry level quiz that can be accessed here: www.indiafactquiz.com
  • Participants will need to answer a minimum of 6 questions, where each question will need to be answered in 30 seconds.[Refer to the Quiz Play section for the rules]
  • All questions will have an explainer graphic visualization to provide context and background to each answer.
  • Every participant will receive an online certificate confirming participation and will be provided with the option of uploading their picture on the India Fact Quiz website, which will be made available in the ‘Hall Of Fame’, Leaderboard or subsequent publicity material. The participants' scores will help them in qualifying for the Regional Finals from their respective regions.

  Phase 2: (Level 3 i.e. Regional Finals)

  • The 4 participants who top the Leaderboard from each region (North, South, East and West) will qualify for the Regional Finals of IFQ, provided that they fulfill the age eligibility criteria i.e. participants who are above Seventeen (17) but not above Twenty-six (26) years of age as on February 03, 2020.
  • The regional finals will be held in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata& Lucknow.

  Phase 3: (Level 4 i.e. National Finale)

  • Finals of the India Fact Quiz 2020 will be held in New Delhi with the regional finalists battling it out for the pole position.
  • 1 national final winner will be determined.

A. In order to be shortlisted for the Regional Finals, the participant must cross Level 1 & 2 and score well to stack up high on the Leaderboard. The Leaderboard will change depending on the number of people who take the Quiz and how they score.These participants will need to be above age Seventeen (17) but not above Twenty-Six (26) years, as on April 10, 2020

At the end of the Digital Quiz, the top 4 qualifying participants with maximum scores will be chosen from the Leaderboard from that particular region (e.g. top 4 scorers from the Leaderboard of the North India region will be eligible for the Regional Final for North India). If any participant from the top 4 is unable to appear for the Regional Finals citing any reason, the next in order of the Leaderboard will be chosen and notified to come for the regional finals. Note: These qualifying participants should be above Seventeen (17) but not above Twenty-six (26) years of age as on April 10, 2020

A. IFQ 2020 will be held between February 3 & April 10, 2020.

A. The Digital Quiz closes on 8th March. However, the Quiz Management can extend the quiz at their discretion.

A. Each participant has up to 5 attemptsin Level 1 and up to 2 attempts in Level 2 of the Digital Quiz.

A. No. The quiz is accessible via any web browser i.e. Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox Microsoft Edge etc.

A. Yes. The quiz can be taken in English as well as Hindi.

A. Level 1 will comprise of six (6) questions which need to be answered within three (3) minutes. Participants can win up to 27,000* points including Bonus questions (* You may be eligible for up to 28,000 points, if you have acquired 1000 points by being an early bird) Bonus questions are availed if the participant scores above 4000 points and depending upon the time balance, the bonus questions that can be availed is as follows:

Level 2 will comprise of nine (9) questions which need to be answered within four and a half (4.5) minutes. Participants can win up to 38,000 points including bonus questionswhich are availed in case participants score 6000 points and depending upon the time balance, the bonus questions that can be availed is as follows :

A. No. Answers once submitted cannot be edited or revised.

A. Top 4 Participants from each of the 4 regions represented in the leader boards will be shortlisted on:

  1. Number of correct answers
  2. Time taken to complete the quiz
  3. The Cumulative Highest Score of all attempts in Level 1 & Level 2 on the Leaderboards
  4. The participants should have attained the age of seventeen (17) but not twenty-six (26) as on April 10, 2020

A. There is NO cap on number of participants for the Digital Quiz. Although, for Levels 3 & 4, only participants who have a received a confirmation mail shall be eligible.

A. The team at IFQ possesses all authority to qualify or disqualify an application if the participant or his application is non-compliant with the Terms &Conditions. Please refer to the Terms &Conditions on the website for further details.

A. No. All the entries shall be non-transferable.

A. Once you log in to the website and click ‘Take the Quiz’, the Digital Quiz begins-

Level 1: Consisting of six (6) questions to be answered in a span of three (3) minutes. Each question to be answered within 30 seconds including the bonus questions. The participants who have scored minimum 6,000 points in any of the 5 attempts in Level 1 to move to Level 2.
Bonus questions for Level 1: Based on the points secured in the quiz, you may be eligible for 1-3 bonus questions.

Level 2: Consisting of nine (9) questions to be answered in a span on four and a half (4.5) minutes.Each question to be answered within 30 seconds including the bonus questions.
Bonus questions for Level 2: Based on the points secured in the quiz above, you may be eligible for 1-4 bonus questions.

Level 3:The top four participants from each region between the age of 17-25years shall qualify to the Regional Level.

Level 4: All India Top 4 from the Regional Finals will qualify for the National Finale in New Delhi

A. Any participant can gain up to 1000 points for registering early on the website and the cut-off date (i.e. February 03, 2020 to February 17, 2020) for the same shall be decided by the Quiz Management Team.

A. Any participant can view the scores on the website by clicking on ‘My Accounts’. It will also display the rankings of participants along with the Community participants.

  1. Participants who have scored above 10,000 points in Level 1 shall be featured on the Hall of Fame.
  2. Participants qualified to Level 2, with their updated scores shall be featured on the Hall of Fame.
  3. The points scored by participants in Level 1 & 2 will be tallied and featured on the Hall of Fame as well as displayed on the respective Leaderboards.
  4. The Top 100 scorers from each of the four regions will be displayed on the respective Regional Leaderboards.
*Please note that the points scored in Level 1 shall not be carried forward to Level 2 but the highest score of all the attempts in Level 1 & Level 2 will be added to the final score on the respective Leaderboards & Hall of Fame.

A. Yes. The Top scorers can find their name on the specific Leaderboard for their respective Community which can be accessed on the ‘Community’ tab in the website. Those qualifying further on the basis of their scores achieved may be featured on the regional Leaderboard too.

A. The top four participants from each region between the age of 17-26 shall qualify to the Regional Level. In case of a tie in the scores, the cumulative scores & time saved (not including bonus time) of both Levels will be considered to arrive at the Top 4 from each region. If scores and time saved cannot provide a resolution, then a ‘randomiser program’ authorised by the IFQ process partner will decide the regional level qualifiers.

A. The highest score that can be secured in Level 1 is 12000 points and with bonus is 27000* points. Level 1 shall comprise of: -

For unlocking Bonus Questions in Level 1, the participant should score a minimum of 4000 points in Level 1. Please refer to the answer as per Q.27 for more details on bonus round.

*In case the participant is an early bird, he/she has the additional benefit of scoring a total of 28000 points: Pls refer to the answer as per Q. 36 for more details of Early Bird Points

The highest score that can be secured in Level 2 is 18000 points and with bonus is 38000 points. The Level 2 shall comprise of: -

For unlocking Bonus Questions in Level 2, the participant should score a minimum of 6000 points in Level 2. Please refer to the answer as per Q.27 for more details on bonus round.

The Level 3 shall comprise of four rounds. The first three rounds shall have four to five questions whereas, the fourth round which will be a buzzer round and it will have six or more questions. The participant with the highest score will be declared as the qualifier to the National Finale. At the end of the fourthround, if there is tie then more questions will be asked between the participants (having tie) until a winner is decided

A. Level 3 will be conducted in the form of on-ground events to be held in, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata& Lucknow. Level 3 will be televised and made available on digital media as well. Please contact us at connect@indiafactquiz.com for queries or clarifications regarding this Level.

A. You are more than welcome to attend the regional finals in the city closest to your place of residence. You will need to register in the place of your residence with the guest relations (connect@indiafactquiz.com) and confirm your attendance. Any costs related to travel for the IFQ regional finals will be borne by the attendee. The organisers at IFQ do not claim liability for any expenses and the attendees shall be responsible for their own safety.

A. All Regional qualifiers (Qualifying Individual) above 18 years will be compensated up to a fixed amount for the Qualifying Individual’s Travel & Lodging only. Whereas all Qualifying Individuals of 17 years age will be compensated up to a fixed amount for Individual & One Guardian’s Travel & Lodging (Twin Sharing only). The fixed amount will be decided by the Quiz Management team depending upon the location of the Qualifying Individual and the same will be communicated at the time of confirmation of the Qualifying Individual.
*This shall be applicable for the National Finale round as well.

A. No. Only the Qualifying Individuals of the age of 17 are allowed to be accompanied by one guardian.

A. If any participant is unable to appear for the next level citing any reason, the next in order of the Leaderboard will be chosen and notified to come for the Regional Finals.

A. Only participants that have qualified for Level 3 and Level 4, above 18 years of age will be compensated up to a fixed amount as determined by the Quiz Management Team. Whereas,the Regional qualifiers of 17 years age will be compensated up to a fixed amount for Individual & One Guardian’s travel and accommodation. The fixed amount will be decided by the Quiz Management depending upon the location of the participant and the same will be communicated at the time of confirmation of the participants.
*This shall be applicable for the National Finale round as well.

A. Any one of the following documents will be used as proof of confirmation ofidentity and age:

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. Driving license (+18)
  3. Birth certificate
  4. Passport
  5. Ration card
  6. PAN card
  7. School leaving certificate
  8. Mail sent by the Quiz Management Team that confirms that the participant has been shortlisted for the regional round. If you are not able to show this mail at the time of registration, the Quiz Management may not be able to take forward your participation.
    1. Please note that The India Fact Quiz will not be storing or keeping any identification details of any participation. The documents will be only referred to ensure the participants identity proof.

      *This shall be applicable for the National Finale round as well.

  • The National Finale of India Fact Quiz 2020 will be held in New Delhi with the regional finalists battling it out for the pole position. Four (4) finalists to be identified for the final quiz.
  • The quiz in the National Finale will be divided into 4 segments and in each segment shall consist of 4-5 questions.
  • The participant who scores the highest points in the National Finale will be declared as the winner. At the end of the 4th round, if there is tie then more questions will be asked between the participants (having tie) until a winner is decided.The winner will receive tech-prizes containing tech goodies.

A. Four participants i.e. one from each regional finals shall qualify for the final round..

A. In case any participant is unable to participate in the National Finale, their participation will be disqualified and the next top scorer will be automatically selected basis his/her availability.

A. Every participant will be awarded an online certificate of participation. Also, Top 10 scorers featured on the Hall of Fame below the age of 17 and below the age of 26 years will receive a Tech prize, as declared on the final day of the Digital Quiz.
